Lots of men were riding a ship called the Susan Constance. As with the colony of Jamestown the river that they have been riding on has been named after their king. When they entered the Chesapeake Bay, the people got into trouble. They were anchored off a point of some land, which the Captain called in his own words Cape Henry. The captain and some of the people of Jamestown went on to the shore. They were all attacked by a tribe of indians. Two of the men got very badly wounded by the indians arrows, and one man lost his life. The other men gathered all of their goods and they went to shore. Some of the men were already sleeping. In the morning, when they arrived in the wilderness, the captain opened a closed box that he had brought from a Virginia Company in England. Inside was the names of seven men who would become the people’s leaders where they stay. A certain name was Captain John Smith. One of the men was surprised of the choice. The other leaders did not seam very much like him. For three weeks all of the men have been on the shore. The people have started to clear land and cut down trees for wood to start building houses for everyone. So the people began their lives!
